Members

Pursuant to Rule 23, the PACE Commission may include up to 14 members, selected by appointing authorities across Hawaiʻi’s civic and education ecosystem.

Appointing authorities

Appointments may be made by the Chief Justice of the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court (two members), the Governor, the President of the Hawaiʻi Senate, the Speaker of the Hawaiʻi House of Representatives, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the Superintendent of the Department of Education, the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaiʻi, the President of the University of Hawaiʻi, the Dean of the University of Hawaiʻi William S. Richardson School of Law, the Hawaiʻi State Bar Association, and the Hawaiʻi Association of Independent Schools. The Commission may appoint two additional members with relevant expertise.

Terms & leadership

Members may generally serve one or more, but no more than three consecutive, three-year terms. The Chief Justice designates a chair and vice chair from the members.
