WIELD THE PADDLES TOGETHER
Work together.
The PACE Commission is organized into two committees: (1) the Committee on Civic Education in Schools and (2) the Committee on Civic Engagement.
The Committee on Civic Education in Schools
The Committee on Education is tasked with developing resources and engagement opportunities that empower students and educators to understand our civic institutions, actively participate in them, and work together to address community challenges. The Committee on Education seeks to do this by (1) evaluating current civic education practices and identifying the needs of educators; (2) fostering opportunities for students to participate in civic activities; and (3) creating professional development programs that enhance educators’ abilities to teach civic skills and dispositions.
The Committee on Civic Engagement
The Committee on Civic Engagement is charged with creating resources that allow the community to understand our civic framework, engage in it, and solve it peacefully. The Civic Engagement Committee seeks to do this by creating (1) an interactive resource that explains our existing government systems, (2) a hub that connects ongoing civic engagement efforts across the state, and (3) a directory of organizations, groups, and entities committed to addressing and resolving issues of community importance.
